DON'T LEAVE YOUR KIDS OUT IN THE COLD

Dreams and passions are the keys to unlocking your child's innate genius.

January 30, 2019 and we are experiencing historic low temps in WI.

Today is a high of -12!

A low of -25 with -50 wind chills!

That’s freakin cold! Like frostbit within 5 minutes cold!

Cold like a brass toilet seat in the Yukon cold!

We had a foot of snow on Monday and 10” on Friday.

The kids were ecstatic to have their first snows day in 5 years.

And now we are on our fourth one in a weeks time!

Luckily the first snow day was warm enough they could play outside.

Watching them play in the snow reminded me of my childhood.

I used to love to play in the snow.

I would gently walk on the top of it, to see if it could hold me.

It felt like I was practicing my dream of dancing on the snow.

I felt such a passion that I could barely contain myself.

But my father didn’t see the value in it.

He said the money was better spent elsewhere.

I never was able to take a class in dancing or gymnastics.

It was like my dream was shut out in the cold.

Remembering this reminded me why I got into this business.

Each and every one of us has a unique gift and it’s our passions that will lead us to it.

The world needs us to explore and build upon our gifts through our passions.

We are blessed to be able to nurture and help cultivate our kid's gifts.

It all starts with their passions and the alchemical process of exploration.

There are times when we fear the path they choose.

We say:

  • “That isn’t a lucrative career, you should pick something that will pay more”
  • “Dancers don’t make a lot of money...You don’t want to be a starving artist”
  • “ I just want you to live a comfortable life”

We steer them away from their passions thinking we are doing what’s best for them.

But the truth is we suffocate their potential by shutting their passions out in the cold.

The key to their success lies in the pursuit of their passions and dreams.

The key to preparing for 21st jobs that don’t exist is allowing the kids to define them.

The key to thriving and not just surviving.

By default, they educate themselves through their process of exploration.

So my question for you is, how are you nurturing your kid's dreams?

What can you do to support their passions?

What tools can you leverage to awaken their innate gifts?

How can you inspire them to take action and build a life they will love?

Tell me what three things can you do to nurture your child's dreams in the comments?

Now I'm going to put on another sweater!

Stay Warm,

Rebecca
